The Thompson adjusting procedures are based on Gonstead and Diversified but with the addition of mechanical cocking table sections. The table is cocked up about an inch high under the patient. When the doctor thrusts the table drops back down. The drops are used to enable the doctor to use even less force because the body is gently put into motion. When the table bottoms out the vertebra goes back to its correct position due to its own momentum. The noise of the table dropping startles some first time patients but it is designed to be gentle.
